The Ffestiniog Railway winds its way through the stunning landscapes of Gwynedd, Wales, offering a journey through the heart of Snowdonia National Park. This narrow-gauge heritage line stretches roughly thirteen and a half miles from the coastal harbour of Porthmadog to the former slate mining centre of Blaenau Ffestiniog. The route traverses mountainous and wooded country, notable for the historic Cob embankment at its Porthmadog start.

This remarkable railway has a unique place in history as the world's oldest operational railway company. It operates on a single track with passing loops along its length. The Ffestiniog Railway Company also manages the Welsh Highland Railway, and trains sometimes run the combined route, connecting Blaenau Ffestiniog with Caernarfon.”
