York College for Girls

York College for Girls was an educational institution situated in the historic city of York. Opening its doors in early 1908 with a small group of twelve students, it was established by the Church Schools Company. The school occupied premises in Low Petergate, in a building that predates its founding by more than a century.

Throughout its operational history, the school expanded to accommodate approximately 200 pupils. Though it faced financial challenges leading to its closure in 1997, the original buildings themselves have endured. They retain significant architectural value, being Grade II* listed, and have since been repurposed as a restaurant, continuing their presence in the city's landscape.
