Roman Gate Tower, Exeter

Demarcated on the pavement to the right of this notice is the foundation of the Roman Gate Tower flanking the South Gate to the City. The gate was rebuilt in medieval times and then used as a debtors prison. It was demolished in A.D. 1819.
