Custom House The Custom House for Boston from 1725 until 1983 and occupies the site of an earlier Custom House purchased from the Crown in 1662. It faced the main quay of the port until the opening of the Dock in 1884. Traces of medieval stonework from the Dominican Friary survive in the building. The Boston Preservation Trust
