Eastbourne War Memorial

Eastbourne is a residential area nestled beside the sea, forming part of Wellington, New Zealand. This seaside location, accessible by road from Petone or by ferry from central Wellington, serves as a favoured spot for local visitors. Situated on the eastern edge of Wellington Harbour, it overlooks the Miramar Peninsula and is connected to the wider Lower Hutt area by a coastal route threading through the Eastern Bays and Seaview. The area draws its name from its English counterpart, a similarly popular seaside destination.

Bordering the settlement, native bush thrives, much of it having regenerated thanks to local conservation efforts. This verdant landscape offers numerous walking paths, including a route along the entire ridge of the bays hills. Eastbourne also reflects its settlers' Italian heritage, noticeable in the local architectural styles, reminiscent of communities found elsewhere in Wellington with origins on Stromboli.
