Aro Valley is a compact inner-city neighbourhood in Wellington, New Zealand. The area draws its name from a stream that once flowed through the locality, a watercourse now replaced by Hōniana Te Puni Street. While the stream's original Māori name was Wai-Māpihi, it became widely known as Te Aro Stream because of its path across the Te Aro flat. The valley's character is shaped by its proximity to the city centre and its distinctive residential landscape.
