The Bell Tower and the adjoining part of the Town Wall together with the land and buildings to the east having been presented by Owen Jones Esquire of Glanbevno near Carnarvon to the Mayor Aldermen and Burgesses of the Borough of Caernarvon were by them conveyed in August 1917 to the commissioners of HM Works and Public Buildings under the provisions of the Ancient Monuments Consolidation and Amendment Act Chas Jones Mayor
