Black plaque № 54269

Photograph at the Black plaque № 54269 black plaque

This stone was found here in 1984 in the foundation course of the Victorian wall. The ring-cross stems from the 7th to 9th centuries. More than 30 have been found in Pembrokeshire. The site, hard by high tide marking perhaps a prayer station or a burial, is yet another indication of the importance of movement by sea in the Celtic Church, notably here between Wales and Ireland.
