Road Widening

Photograph at the Road Widening Memorial

Broadway stands as a significant thoroughfare in Sydney's inner city, stretching 700 metres through the heart of New South Wales. This road serves as a distinct boundary, separating the northern suburb of Ultimo from Chippendale to the south. Beyond its function as a street, Broadway is also recognised as an urban locality in its own right.

Its route connects the southern terminus of George Street, meeting Harris and Regent Streets, before continuing west to Victoria Park. Here, it converges with Parramatta Road and City Road. Together with Parramatta Road, Broadway forms a vital section of the Great Western Highway, anchoring its place in the city's historical and modern connective tissue.
