Oleg Antonov is remembered as a significant figure in Soviet aviation history. Born in 1906, he dedicated his career to the design of aircraft, becoming a renowned Soviet aeroplane designer.

His innovative spirit led him to establish a prominent research and design bureau. This organisation, initially based in Novosibirsk, was relocated to Ukraine in 1952. It continues to this day under the name Antonov, a lasting tribute to its founder's legacy. He contributed numerous glider designs and several notable aeroplanes, including the Antonov An-2 and Antonov An-12, for both civilian and military purposes.
