The Martyrs' Memorial, situated adjacent to Amman's Sport City in Jordan, stands as a significant place of remembrance and a museum. Inaugurated by King Hussein in the summer of 1977, its creation fulfilled his personal desire to honour those who gave their lives for Jordan. The memorial commemorates individuals who died in service to Jordan from 1915 onwards, beginning with the Great Arab Revolt. This historical event was instigated by Hussein bin Ali, the great-grandfather of King Hussein. The site draws around 70,000 visitors annually.
