Charles Pelham Villiers (1802–1898) Statue of Rt.Hon. Charles Pelham Villiers. 1878. Statue By W.Theed Inscription: CHARLES PELHAM/ VILLIERS P.C.,M.P. BORN 3RD JANUARY 1802, DIED 16TH JANUARY 1898. AGED 96 YEARS. THIS STATUE WAS ERECTED BY PUBLIC SUBSCRIPTION IN RECOGNITION OF THE EMINENT SERVICES RENDERED BY MR VILLIERS TO HIS COUNTRY ESPECIALLY IN CONNECTION WITH THE REPEAL OF THE CORN LAWS. HE REPRESENTED THE PARLIAMENTARY BOROUGH OF WOLVERHAMPTON IN THE HOUSE OF COMMONS FROM 1805 UNTIL THE DIVISION OF THE BOROUGH IN 1885 WHEN HE WAS RETURNED FOR THE SOUTH DIVISION WHICH HE REPRESENTED UNTIL HIS DEATH Inscription to The statue was moved from its original position in Snow Hill in 1931 to current location West Park : Park Road West, Wolverhampton WV1 4PS Statue By W.Theed
