Sir Frederick Stern OBE MC

Photograph at the Sir Frederick Stern OBE MC bronze plaque

This garden was created from a bare chalk pit by Sir Frederick Stern OBE, MC 1884-1967. It was started in 1910 and gradually developed into a collection of plants that will grow in chalky soils. Some specimens are from original seeds sent home by collectors. It was presented to Worthing Corporation by Lady Stern as a memorial to Sir Frederick.
