Robert Blackburn

The Royal Aeronautical Society. Aeronautical Heritage Award. Robert Blackburn, 1895-1955. Operated the Blackburn Flying School at Filey between March 1911 and September 1912. He conducted extensive flight trials from this beach with aircraft of his own design from a dedicated hangar and slipway. He later formed the Blackburn Aeroplane and Motor Co. Ltd.
