Erected by the NUNEATON and BEDWORTH BOROUGH COUNCIL to Commemorate and in Tribute to the Miners of the local Coal Mining Industry. The Winding Wheel was donated by the NATIONAL COAL BOARD and was in use at NEWDIGATE COLLIERY the last working mine in the Borough, until its closure on the 5th of FEBRUARY 1982. Unveiled by his Worship the Mayor Cllr. A.H. WALKER J.P. on the 27th day of MARCH 1986.
