Lifeboat, Watchet

Photograph at the Lifeboat, Watchet plaque

A Rowing & Sailing Lifeboat was stationed at Watchet from 1875 to 1944. It was housed in the building at the far end of the Esplanade, now used as the Library. This wooden hauling post was used with ropes & tackle to help with the launching & recovery of the heavy boat.
