Wilfrid Wilson Gibson 1878-1962 Georgian Poet was bown in Battle Hill, the only surviving room of the house being above this archway. His first poem appeared in "The Spectator" in 1897. His major works include "Daily Bread," "Borderlands," "Livelihood," "Krindlesyke," "Kestrel Edge" and "The Outpost." One of his early poems is on the Temperley Memorial Fountain in the Market Place.
