Edward Courtney Boyle

Lieutenant Commander Edward Courtney Boyle VC, Royal Navy (Later Rear Admiral) Was a member of Sunningdale Golf Club. Awarded the Victoria Cross on 27th April 1915 when in command of HM Submarine E.14. Under threat of enemy attack he negotiated minefields & strong currents to enter the Sea of Marmora, there sinking two Turkish gunboats & the military transport ship Gun Djemal.
