Sheppard's Barton This street was established by the Sheppard family in the early 18th century to provide houses for workers in the weaving industry. The land formerly belonged to the Champneys of Orchardleigh and the whole are formed part of the endowment of the medieval chantry chapel of St. Catherine. Somerset County Council paved the street in 1990 as part of the enhancement of this historic area.
