RICHARD LYFE, 47 years a Jurat, five times Bailiff and three times Mayor of Hastings, four times Bailiff of the Cinque Ports to Yarmouth, nine times Burgess in Parliament and canopy-bearer at two Coronations, lived here until his death in 1605. The house was altered in the 18th century and was for many years the Rectory of All Saints
