Brittains the Furnishers

Photograph at the Brittains the Furnishers black plaque

Brittains the Furnishers. In 1904 Frank Brittain set up his first shop in St Neots Road selling furniture and second hand cycles. In 1908 he was joined by his 12 year old brother Archie who helped repair the cycles and deliver paraffin using a hand truck. Brittains settled into this site in 1924, extending the shop and over the years filling in the yard. The business became Brittains (Furnishers) Ltd in 1920. Brittains remains a family business
