In memory of Hector Morrison 1805-1888. Born Clachan Sand,North Uist son of Murdoch Morrison of Clachan Sand and Mary Maclean of Vallaquie and Boreray. Hector left his family croft to study and work in Inverness for his uncle Neil Maclean, a very successful land surveyor. Hector ultimately ran the business, but he did not forget his parish of Trumisgarry. On his death, he bequeathed a legacy for those less fortunate in the parish, a fund which was to give financial aid for eighty years. Altera merces.
