The Bats Sculpture is inspired by the Count Dracula films produced by Hammer Film Productions at the nearby Bray studios which featured the legendary actor Christopher Lee. One of the special effects technicians recalls being sent to Woolworths in Maidenhead to purchase as many rubber bats as he could find which were then used as props in the films. The Bats Sculpture by Owen Cunningham, commissioned by Shanly Homes in 2018, is part of their Chapel Arches "Maidenhead Memories Sculpture Series"
