Austin Hopkinson 1879-1962 Local industrialist, inventor and M.P. for Mossley, Bought Ryecroft Hall (originally built in 1849/50) in 1913. Hopkinson, owner of Delta Engineering, presented Ryecroft Hall to Audenshaw UDC in 1920. It is now used by Tameside MBC and the local community.
