The Amar Jawan Jyoti, a flame symbolising the 'Immortal Soldier', was a significant national war memorial in India. Created in the aftermath of the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War and opened in early 1972, it served the nation as its primary war memorial for almost fifty years. Located at India Gate, this monument featured a striking cenotaph atop a black marble pedestal, bearing the inscription "Amar Jawan" in gold on all sides.

Topped with a reversed rifle and a war helmet, the monument was bordered by four urns and illuminated on special observances. Its construction was completed swiftly, following the direct wishes of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. In 2022, the original flame was united with a new one at the National War Memorial, established to honour all the recognised martyrs of India's Armed Forces since independence.
