Emily Sturge 1847 – 1892 Elizabeth Sturge 1849 – 1944 Emily Sturge, co-founder of Redland High School for Girls, and founding member of the first Bristol Women’s Suffrage Society. Elizabeth Sturge, Vice-President and Council member of Redland High School for Girls, helped to create better housing for working people. Founded in 1882, the school stood on this site until 2016 when it merged with The Red Maids’ School to form Redmaids’ High School.
