Alfred Bird

Alfred Bird is remembered as an English chemist and food manufacturer whose innovations transformed kitchens. Born in Gloucestershire in 1811, he later studied at King Edward's School in Birmingham. His most famous creations include custard made without eggs and baking powder, products that became staples in homes. He passed away on 15 December 1878, leaving a legacy that continued through his son, Alfred Frederick Bird, who further developed the business.
