Legacy Story

Jimi was someone who noticed others. He was known by those around him as kind, thoughtful, and quietly generous with his time and attention. He lived his life in London, where he studied, worked, and built strong connections within his community. To friends and family, he was simply someone who cared. In the early hours of 24 April 2021, Jimi was walking near London Bridge when he became aware that a woman was struggling in the River Thames. Without hesitation, he acted. He called the emergency services and entered the water in an attempt to help, placing another person’s life before his own safety. His actions were instinctive and selfless. They reflected the values he lived by; courage, compassion, and responsibility for others. Although Jimi tragically lost his life, the woman he tried to save survived. Jimi’s bravery has since been formally recognised, but his true legacy lives beyond honours or awards. It lives in the example he set, the lives he touched, and the quiet strength of character he showed when it mattered most. He is remembered not only for how he died, but for how he lived; with kindness, courage, and an unwavering willingness to help others. His candle remains lit. 🕯️💛
